Continuous Controls Monitoring Versus Static Point-In-Time Testing: A Case Study
As the debate on realizing tangible benefits from SOX compliance investments continues, companies such as Siemens PLM Software have taken their investments in continuous controls monitoring technology to new heights. Transitioning from a static point-in-time testing to real-time business controls monitoring, Siemens PLM Software re-engineered a required SAP certification audit (across FI, FI-AA, FI-MM, SD, PS, and HR) to achieve continuous controls monitoring and establish a controls framework that reduces the reliance on IT and empowers the business owners. This controls framework encompasses SOD, transaction monitoring, user activity monitoring, and alerts and closed loop remediation. This presentation helps answer key questions on how one can employ audit automation software in an SAP software environment, not just to comply with regulatory requirements but also to drive business process efficiency and save significant personnel time and capital for one’s company. The co-presenters of this session share how a successful audit automation effort in one specific division of a global enterprise can be expanded to a corporate-wide initiative.
