Tim Guleri
Biography
Tim Guleri is a Managing Director at Sierra Ventures, a private venture investment firm with 1.1 billion in committed capital. Prior to that, Tim was Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President at E.piphany (Nasdaq: EPNY), a leading provider of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) enterprise software. At E.piphany, Tim led the strategic direction of the company through defining and building business partnerships and developing corporate investments.
Prior to E.piphany, Tim was the co-founder and CEO of Octane Software. Tim led Octane’s merger with E.piphany in March 2000, a deal valued at $3.2 billion, which is the “largest acquisition of a private application software company by a public corporation” in the history of the industry. Tim grew Octane to more than 250 employees, 40 customers, and 20 Million in revenue in 3 years. He also raised $50 million in private financing from preeminent venture capital firms like Greylock Management, Integral Capital Partners, Lucent Ventures, Norwest Ventures and Sigma Partners, and Octane established strategic partnerships with industry leaders including, Cisco, KPMG and Lucent.
Before co-founding Octane, Tim held key executive management positions at Scopus Technology as vice president of technical field operations and vice president of product marketing. Scopus emerged as the leading vendor in the CRM market during Tim’s tenure and was merged into Siebel Systems (Nasdaq: SEBL) in 1997. Tim was instrumental in growing the company to $100 million in revenue and to 600 employees from 1992 to 1998. Before that, Tim held executive management positions at LSI Logic.
Tim is considered a visionary in the Customer Relationship Management field, and is frequently requested to speak and write on the subject for noted conferences and publications. He has presented at numerous industry conferences such as ABA, ETRA, DCI, eCommerce World and has contributed articles to leading magazines. He holds a Master’s Degree in Robotics and Industrial Engineering from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from India.
