John C. Gazlay
Biography
John C. (Jack) Gazlay is Vice President and Assistant General Auditor for Freddie Mac. Jack has been with Freddie Mac since 1997. Jack directs a 41-person staff and has primary audit responsibility for information technology (both infrastructure and applications); Single Family and Multifamily mortgage sourcing, servicing and operations; credit risk oversight; and corporate support functions such as Human Resources, Legal, Corporate Compliance, anti-fraud, and data mining. Jack also serves as a principal liaison with external auditors and regulators.
Jack began his career at Ernst & Young, rising to audit partner responsible for the firm’s information technology audit practice in the 20 offices of its West Region. Subsequently, he held the position of vice president, Audit & Investigative Services, for the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Companies, where he directed a 28-person staff and did pioneering work in law-firm auditing and market conduct compliance.
Jack serves on the Institute of Internal Auditors Board of Research and Education Advisors and the technical advisory board of Approval Corporation, which markets risk management products. He is a certified public accountant licensed in New York, and he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York Society of Public Accountants. Jack holds a degree in mathematics from Bowdoin College in Maine, and an M.B.A. from Rutgers—The State University of New Jersey.
