Fred Corrado

Fred Corrado served as Vice Chairman of the Board and Chief Financial Officer of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P), the Montvale, New Jersey based operator of more than 700 supermarkets in 15 states, the District of Columbia and Ontario, Canada.  He joined the Company in 1987 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, was elected to the Board of Directors in December 1990, and in 1992 became Vice Chairman.  Mr. Corrado retired in May 2002.

At various times during his tenure, his responsibilities also included Public Relations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Labor Relations, Law and Logistics.

Prior to joining A&P Fred  spent 13 years in various Financial and Management positions at Standard Brands and the successor company Nabisco Brands culminating with the last seven years as President, U.S. Planters Snacks Division and then President, COO  and a member of the Board of Directors of Nabisco Brands Canada. 

On November 1, 2002, Mr. Corrado was elected to the Board of Directors of Novell, Inc. (NOVL) where he also serves as the Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Mr. Corrado is active in the community as a member of the Corporate Board of Directors of Covenant House, New York, NY and The New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark, NJ.

He is a graduate of Manhattan College and the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.  Mr. Corrado is a CPA in New York State, a life retired member of the Financial Executives International and a former Chairman of its New York CFO Advisory Committee and a member of the American Institute of CPA’s and the New York State Society of CPA’s.
